The College of Health and Human Development is focused on improving the quality of life for others. How do you think? Are you business minded? Artistic? Socially driven? Motivated by science? When deciding on a major, consider your approach to life.

Do you have a mind for business? Consider a major in:

• apparel merchandising
• recreation and tourism management
• hospital administration

Are you artistic? You’ll enjoy:

• interior design
• apparel design
• dance (minor also available)

Social skills and a love of working with people are perfect for majors in:

• child and adolescent development
• family studies
• human sexuality (minor in FCS)
• nursing
• health education
• athletic training
• recreation and tourism management
• teaching (all HHD majors can lead to teaching)
• gerontology (minor)

And of course, our academic programs cover the sciences! We offer:

• nursing
• radiology
• exercise science
• speech/language pathology
• audiology
• nutrition, or dietetics and food science
• Industrial hygiene
• environmental and occupational health (minor also available)

What about the value of life experience?

Getting to know businesses and organizations in the community is important for future networking, getting a sense of the profession you're learning about. We place a high value on academic internships. In fact, many of our programs require internships and experience for special certifications.

Advisement:

To help you stay on track, the college requires students to get advisement every semester. Freshmen and sophomores can get advisement through the HHD/EOP Student Services Center.

If you have selected a major (and/or are a transfer student), you can get advisement from the department that has the major you would like to pursue.

In today’s economy, people are returning to get advanced degrees. Please consult with the appropriate department for advisement for program prerequisites and requirements.
